Guest Artists and Special Events Add to Village Activities

WISCASSET, MAINE – The fifth season of Wiscasset Art Walk, located in the Village center, begins on Thursday, June 29, from 5 to 8pm. In addition to Wiscasset Village’s fine collection of artist-owned galleries, one-of-a-kind specialty shops, antique venues, good eats, and lots of music, visitors will be entertained this season by special events planned to amuse, enthrall, and delight.  Throughout the season, guest artists, talented performers, and even a high-end craft show, will add yet more abundance to an evening already full of sights, sounds, and tastes!

WISCASSET, MAINE – Two local artists who paint exuberantly with joy, color, and unique vision are highlights of the final Wiscasset Art Walk of the 2016 season on September 29, from 5-8pm.  Alna resident Kate Nordstrom will greet visitors to her exhibit of abstracted landscapes at Midcoast Conservancy, 36Water St., Wiscasset Village.  Barbara Welborn, a self-described autistic artist, greets visitors and displays selections from her fanciful cat series at Beelicious Market, 64 Main St. Both artists approach their subjects playfully resulting in landscapes that you’ve never seen before and cats that are not your home-grown variety.

Plein Air Painting, Dancing, and Music Expand Sidewalks’ Creative Boundaries

WISCASSET, MAINE – Renowned jazz clarinetist Brad Terry is making a special guest appearance during the Wiscasset Art Walk on August 25, 5-8pm. He’s invited 14-year old jazz guitarist Asa Waldo to join him along with long-time friend and musical colleague Vaughn DeForest on acoustic base.  The trio will be playing to visitors in Wiscasset Bay Gallery, 67 Main St., throughout the evening.

WISCASSET, MAINE Wiscasset Art Walk is pleased to feature two local artists, George Mason of Damariscotta Mills and Leonard Meiselman of Wiscasset, who will present recent work in a two-person exhibit, Unspoken . . .from Nature to Abstraction, at Midcoast Conservancy, 36Water St., Wiscasset Village.  Art of a different sort enlivens the Village as Luminarium Dance Co., based in Boston, makes a repeat appearance during the Wiscasset Art Walk on August 25.  In Wiscasset, the dance company has ‘jammed’ with gallery musicians and danced with visitors on the pier.  Shops, sidewalks, hand railings, and, sometimes, people become props as the dancers improvise their way through the Village.

Guest Artists on Hand to Talk About Art and Travels

WISCASSET, MAINE – New galleries in Wiscasset Village prepare to wow visitors with their stunning offerings during the Wiscasset Art Walk on Thursday, July 28, from 5-8pm.  60 Main Art & Antiques is exhibiting the Maine lighthouse photographs of Richard Berks and the historically accurate naval paintings by English artist John Bentham Dinsdale.  James L. Kochan Fine Art & Antiques specializes in antique marine paintings.  “This is museum quality,” said one awed guest when the gallery opened last month.  And a spectacular pop-up exhibit will welcome guests at Midcoast Conservancy with the paintings of Barbara Bean, Ed McCartan, and Ann Slocum, accompanied by the ceramic art of Jackie Melissas.

WISCASSET, MAINE – The Village of Wiscasset’s first Art Walk of the 2016 season is on Thursday, June 30, from 5-8pm.  Galleries, studios, and shops in the Village welcome local residents and visitors from away to enjoy the evening’s abundance of sights, sounds, and tastes!  The Nickels-Sortwell House, owned by Historic New England, and Wiscasset’s self-guided Museum in the Streets, provide a glimpse of an historical past when the Village was a proud shipbuilding community.
